The Tommy Bridges
TOMMY BRIDGES is a lifetime jazz musician who’s played with a list that reads like a ‘who’s who of jazz’, both on trumpet and piano. Bridges was a child prodigy who at age 16, played at the Kool/Newport Jazz festival, and was featured in the 1980 Playboy Jazz film; ’Ain’t none of them play it like him,’ about the life of Bix Beiderbecke. Born in LaCrosse, WI, Bridges lived in the New York area for 24 years, and played the top jazz festivals, clubs and society events and for several Presidents, and heads of state. Tommy Bridges made his first record at age 14, on the Delmark jazz label in Chicago. Bridges’ trumpet playing has been compared to that of Wild Bill Davison, Doc Severinsen, Al Hirt and Bobby Hackett, and his swinging piano style has been compared that of the late Dave McKenna and Dave Brubeck. Tommy has played at The Vines Grille and Wine Bar for 12 years, and travels extensively, and is also noted for his work in Las Vegas.
